Mrs. Jones is a Guidance Counselor at Pleasantville High School. Danny Maladuce is in her office for the third time this week, and she’s decided to find someone to help him control his temper. All of the Pleasantville High counselors have access to the Youth Services Map; Mrs. Jones logs in and selects “Pleasantville High” from the Schools list and “Anger Management” and Services list on the Search form. Next, she selects Danny’s home zip code from the list on the Search form, and presses the “Search” button. YSM responds with a list of just the three service agencies which assist people with anger management AND operate in both the school and Danny’s neighborhood, rather than every agency operating in the county.
The list has the contact information for each agency, so she could print the list for Danny and be done with it, but Mrs. Jones decides to check a little deeper. A click on an agency’s name brings up a detailed profile of that agency. “Heart-Hands”, the second agency on the list, rebuilds front yards (including fences and front porches) for houses in low- to middle-income neighborhoods. Woodworking is Danny’s favorite class, so this seems like a perfect fit! A click through to their web site, and Mrs. Jones finds an on-line registration form. In a minute, she enrolls Danny into the program.
